First consultation
“Bene diagnoscitur ? bene curatur!” ? “Something that is well diagnosed can be cured well!” - ancient wisdom.
During a full-fledged consultation which lasts approximately an hour, the doctor carries out following manipulations:
•Your dentist will start by asking you questions regarding your health and teeth;
•full examination of oral cavity;
•examination of teeth, gums, face and neck
• electroodontodiagnostics (pulp examination) ;
• the dentist will assess decay levels and problem areas, these will be recorded by the dental nurse for the dentist to discuss with you;
•pictures of teeth and oral cavity - we use modern technology such as intraoral camera to obtain images of individual teeth and oral cavity. You can easy examine it straight in a dental chair while your dentist is explaining all details. We can print your photos and you can take it home after your visit.
•if the dentist needs to he/she will ask if they can take x-rays. X-rays enable the dentist to see what is happening beneath the gums and under fillings etc. He take orthopantomography and/or periapical X-ray (radiovisiography);
•takes impressions for diagnostic casts;
•assesses the state of oral hygiene (oral hygiene indexes: presence of plaque and tartar and their amount);
Once they have gathered the information they need, they will discuss and explain treatment options and solutions to your dental problems (if there are any). For simple routine checks the hygienist or filings may be all that is needed. For more complex issues further tests and investigations may be carried out before a treatment plan is agreed with you.
